It was opened on 16th December 1968.
How many does it cater for?
We have 33 single rooms and 1 double room.
Where is it located?
We are located in the centre of Fishburn and are within walking distance of all local amenities and public transport.
Access/car parking facilities
There is full disabled access to the front of the building. The car park is situated at the rear of the home.

Key worker and care plan systems are in operation.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is respected at all times. All records and information about you are treated with the greatest respect, only appropriate staff or agencies will have access to them.
Choices
Your choices are taken into account at all times whether it be a time you wish to get up in the morning, the time you prefer to go to bed, or a choice of clothing, meals or privacy (the choice of mixing with other residents or not).
Socialising
You are encouraged to socialise, whether it be receiving visitors or going out to visit. You and your guests can use the visitors lounge, enjoy a chat and use the tea making facilities. Or if you prefer, have the privacy of your own bedroom.
Activities
Structured activities within the home are designed to offer stimulation and help you keep mentally and physically active. Also the "Friends of Glebe House". A group of local ladies, who have been visiting our home for the past 18 years, come once a fortnight to play whist and dominoes as well as arranging Christmas and Easter parties. They will also take you to chapel if you wish on Sunday and Monday.
Meals and refreshments
Menus are varied and choices are offered at each meal, including any special dietary requirements and are served in the dining room. Hot and cold refreshments are available throughout the day, either by asking staff or helping yourself from the flasks provided around the home.
Personalising your own bedroom
This is your room and we will respect your privacy at all times. Every room has a locking facility allowing you to maintain your privacy and the security of your possessions. We will ensure your room is clean and well maintained. You may if you wish bring small pieces of furniture. Pictures, television, video, music centre, etc. To personalise your room.
Laundry service
We provide a personal laundry service if you wish to use it, alternatively if you would like your relatives to help you or if you would like to do some of your own you can.
Domestic service
Our staff  provide a domestic service throughout the home to keep it clean and tidy. We can clean your bedroom on a daily or weekly basis if you want us to. You can also carry out some or all of the cleaning of your bedroom if you wish to, we will be happy to assist you.
Night care
During the night there is staff on duty who are there to make sure you are safe and secure and also help you with any care needs. They will check on you personally throughout the night if you wish. There is also an emergency "call bell" in your bedroom for you to call for help at any time, day or night. On a night the staff are available just the same as they are during the day.
Residential long term care
If you are thinking about long term care, we suggest you contact The social services
department at green lane Spennymoor on 01388 424200 and discuss your needs with a care manager. They will arrange to visit you in your current home and assess your needs and advise you of which level of care would best suit you. You will be supplied with a list of residential or nursing homes to visit to assist in making your choice. You are welcome to visit us and bring a relative or friend with you. This is an ideal opportunity for you to meet other people living here as well as the staff and experience the "feel" of the home.
Residential short term care
This is also known as respite care and is provided on a flexible basis. It can be used as a break in routine for yourself or perhaps allowing relatives and carers the opportunity to have a holiday. Whatever the reason the staff will give you a warm welcome and ensure that you have an enjoyable stay.   Financial details for short-term care would need to be discussed with your care manager, this can be done by contacting the social Services department at Spennymoor.
Day care
We offer a limited number of day care places in the home to assist people to remain in their homes as long as they wish. Days and hours are flexible according to your needs. Day care includes meals, care and choice of activities.
We offer 34 single bedrooms and 1 double bedroom for married couples or friends wanting to stay together.
There are 5 very pleasantly decorated lounges (one of which is a Smokers lounge) with colour television, music centre and video.
There is also a visitors room where you and your friends and relatives can make tea and coffee.

You do not have to use the communal lounge areas if you like the privacy of your own room. TV sockets have been installed in all rooms and a staff call system is on hand to summon help or assistance when required- day or night. There are bathing facilities available, shower and bath with a hoist facility.
A payphone is available for you to use if you wish, or alternatively you may pay to have your own phone installed in your bedroom.

Doctors and hospital appointments
You have the choice of which doctor you want to see, as long as the surgery is in the Fishburn area. Staff will make sure appointments are kept and will escort if required. Medication will be administered by staff using a modern monitored dosage system. Staff ensure the correct medication is given at the required times specified by the Doctor.

District nurses from the above practices will also attend to give prescribed treatment.

Staff can help to arrange appointments, escorts and transport if you have a hospital appointment. They can also liase with your relatives or carers, if you would like them to.
